Carter and I decided to take a weekend trip up to the mountains to Blue Ridge, GA. It is up north of us about 1.5 hrs to the mountains and we decided why not? I just picked carter up from daycare Friday afternoon said we are going home to pack and go on an adventure and we took off. His face was priceless seeing all the Fall leaves and seeing the mountains come into view. We stayed in a beautiful cabin with a very steep driveway. Scare mommy steep :) It was the first cold weekend of the season up there and it was PERFECT cabin weather. Carter and I went on his very first real train ride up in Blue Ridge and the train took us to a small town in McCaysville. It was right on the TN/GA line. I literally had one foot in GA and one foot in TN :) I know I know..I'm a dork. If you are interested in taking your kid on a train ride I highly recommend - http://brscenic.com/ - very nice wonderful people. They made us feel very welcome. Carter got to talk to the train mascot (a bear!) and to the engineers. He just thought he was the coolest :) They also let you walk through the cabins as the tain is moving (only goes 15mph) and they have an open air train at the end which was really neat (and cold). :)
Here are some pics of our time up in Blue Ridge. We want to go back!! We stayed at this cabin and highly recommend the rental place and the cabin (beautiful!!) - http://www.melancholymooselodge.com/blue_ridge_cabin_rentals_big_sky_lodge.html. Tell Bob Jody sent ya! :)
and here are a few self portraits we did on our trip. Timers on DSLRs and a good mirror help a lot! LOL.
